Are Seagulls and larger Birds driving you crazy

Case study
One of our latest challenges has been a property in Sumner Christchurch. This building is three stories high and is across the road from the beach. The problem was larger Birds using the flat roof as a bombing range. Pippies are gathered from the beach by the birds and then taken up to a height of say a few hundred feet they than drop the shells onto the roof which breaks the shell. Once they have done this they return to the roof and have a gourmet lunch. Mean while the noise inside the top apartment was like living in a Tin can with stones being throne at it. Before we introduced the Scarecrow we tried electronic deterrent calls that are played during the day. This worked reasonably well until neighbors got sick of the noise and issued an ultimatum .Not being one to upset the neighbors the owner than contacted us and we came up with this new solution.
First of all we cleaned the roof and gutters that were covered in rotting shells.
Normally about three buckets a month. The smell was not pleasant.
We than mounted the unit on the roof connected the unit to a hose placed the 9 volt battery in the unit and placed the transfers on the unit. Big eye etc
To make sure we were not going to be beaten by these persistent Birds we glued a row of large Plastic spike along the edge of the front roof .This stopped the Seagulls from admiring the view and leaving a thank you note that used to run down the front of the roof
Now the results
The roof is clean. The Birds have disappeared and the owner can have his afternoon nap in piece. This is a good result.
